Про дочь, пьющих русских, про машинку из клипа «Re-Wired», про новый «безгитарный» альбом (ха), про матч Англия – Швеция и площадку для инвалидов
читать дальшеWP: What was the first thing you did right after daughter birth?
Tom: I totally lost it (started crying uncontrollably, sobbed, lost control). I couldn’t control it. That was a strange and very emotional moment.
WP: Do you think about her future? Who would you want her to be when she’s all grown up?
Tom: I’m sure she’ll be gorgeous. But as long as she’s a good girl I’ll love her no matter what she decides to do with her life.
WP: And what do you associate Poland with?
Tom: Not going to lie, I don’t really have any associations with Poland. But if I had to put it somewhere - you drink something a lot. It’s vodka, right? Not as much as the Russian, though. Besides my close friend is half Polish.
WP: I don’t know if you are aware of this, but in the official video for “Re-Wired” one of the cars you try to escape in is Fiat 126p, which is…
Tom: Yes, I heard it, it’s Polish.
WP: It’s a legendary car.
Tom: It’s a terrible car. We hardly got inside. Better not to have an actual accident in it, ‘cause it’s a true death trap.
WP: But it’s also legendary. I remember, watching your video I was surprised that you found a still good-looking car like that. But that didn’t last too long, because you’ve completely ruined it. I was mad at you.
Tom: You know, it’s a small, silly, unique car, it’s really hard to drive it. We had to stay there, all four of us. We had some fun, after all.
WP: Later in June your concert album and live DVD “Live At The O2” comes out. Did that show have any special effects, or was it exactly how all of your shows look like?
Tom: We didn’t prepare anything special. But all concerts are different. Each one means a lot in some way. Sometimes a song goes all fine, the other time something extraordinary happens…
WP: You didn’t tell us the official release date of your next album and there’s just a little info about it. But I heard you said you’ll reduce the use of guitars to a minimum…?
Tom: Honestly, I just said that, just being silly. I’m not saying we wouldn’t record a folk or rave album, though. But I’m sure there will be lots of experimenting here, too.
WP: So, let’s come back to the football topic for a while. What happened at the Swedish Hulsfred Festival? You were cheering for England in an unusual way…?
Tom: Right after our performance we decided to watch the England - Sweden match, which was telecasted on the huge screen. But the only place that made it watchable was that special platform for handicapped. Well, there were like 50,000 Swedish fans, lots of yellow shirts everywhere.
WP: A couple of Englishmen against thousands of Swedish people…
Tom: Yeah. But we had our team. It was nice.
Not as much as the Russian
